Privacy Notice

This notice explains what information may be collected when visitors use Nantucket County Inmate Population, how that information is used, and when it may be shared. By using the site, visitors accept the practices described here.

Information Visitors Provide

Search Terms

When a name, location, or other query is entered into a partner search tool, that query is sent to the third-party provider that operates the tool. Nantucket County Inmate Population does not store those search terms in its own records.

Messages and Emails

If a visitor sends an email or contact message, the message and reply information may be kept long enough to respond and manage the communication. Those messages are not shared outside the organization unless disclosure is required by law.

Information Collected Automatically

Standard web logs and analytics tools may collect technical information when a page loads.

  • IP address.
  • Browser type and version.
  • Device type and operating system.
  • Pages viewed and approximate time spent on pages.
  • Referring website, when available.
  • Date and time of visits.

Cookies

Cookies and similar tools may be used to understand site usage, remember basic preferences, support analytics, and help advertising work. Browser settings can block or delete cookies, although some features may behave differently after cookies are limited.

How Information Is Used

  • Keep the site available, stable, and reasonably fast.
  • Send search requests to the appropriate partner service when a visitor uses a partner tool.
  • Understand which Nantucket County custody and records pages are useful.
  • Find technical errors, broken links, and security issues.
  • Display advertising that may be based on visitor interests.

Other Websites and Public Records

The site links to official Massachusetts public-records pages, sheriff and corrections websites, court resources, federal locators, and third-party search tools. Once a visitor follows an outside link, that destination's privacy policy and terms control its handling of information.

Massachusetts public-records and CORI rules govern many official records held by public offices. This site hosts no official jail, court, or CORI record and does not control how agencies respond under Massachusetts law, including Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 66, Section 10.

Advertising partners may use their own cookies or identifiers to measure ads or personalize advertising across websites. That tracking occurs on their systems, not as an official Nantucket or Massachusetts records function.

Who May Receive Information

Personal information is not sold as a standalone product. It may be available to limited parties that help operate or protect the site.

  • Search partners that process submitted queries.
  • Analytics providers that measure traffic and usage.
  • Advertising networks that serve or measure ads.
  • Law enforcement, courts, or government bodies when a valid legal order requires disclosure.

Security

Reasonable security practices are used to protect site data, but no internet-connected website, email system, or vendor platform can be guaranteed breach-proof. Visitors should avoid sending sensitive legal, medical, financial, or identifying information unless it is necessary.

Users Under 18

This site is intended for adults. It does not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If a minor has submitted information, a deletion request may be sent through the contact path listed on the site.

Data Choices

  • Request a copy of personal information held by the site.
  • Ask that incorrect information provided directly to the site be corrected.
  • Request deletion of information when retention is not legally or operationally required.
  • Opt out of certain processing where an opt-out is available by law or vendor settings.

Policy Updates

This privacy notice may be revised as the site, vendors, or legal requirements change. Updates will be posted on this page with the new version taking effect when published.
